Georgia’s Bull Power Group Begins Development Program
Georgia's Bull Power Group began their fifth bull development program by delivering 50 bulls to the farm of Terry Chandler located near Danielsville, Georgia on May 15. The bulls were weighed on test June 5 and will complete their 112 day development program on September 25. This year for the very first time bulls are being developed in one group and are being hand-fed once per day. Bulls are running in a 60 acre pasture that contains common Bermuda grass, fescue, crabgrass, dallas grass and other native forages in addition to getting 20 lbs of feed per head daily. In addition, they get lots of exercise in a sixty acre pasture.

Our goal has always been to feed these bulls to gain about 3 lbs per day and after weighing the bulls on June 23 they were right on target gaining an average of 3.10 lbs per day. We have always emphasized this is not a test but a period where bulls are developed in a way where they will have long, useful lives and not "melt down" during the first breeding season.

Terry Chandler, Program Host, provides daily care for the bulls and does an excellent job managing the bulls and making sure they stay healthy. For information about the bulls or to arrange a visit contact him at 706-338-6341.
